Terms and Conditions

The Ground Rules for Working With GB Comfort Services

These terms explain what you can expect from us and what we ask of you — how estimates work, when payment is due, what our warranties cover, and how we handle scheduling. We have kept them in plain language, because terms you cannot read are not much use to anyone.

Agreement Between You and GB Comfort Services

GB Comfort Services (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is a family-owned HVAC and plumbing contractor based in Jefferson Township, NJ, serving homeowners and businesses across northern New Jersey, including Morris, Sussex, and Warren counties. These Terms and Conditions apply when you use our website at gbcomfortservices.com, request an estimate, or have work performed by our team.

1. Acceptance of These Terms

By requesting service, accepting an estimate, or allowing our technicians to perform work at your property, you agree to these Terms. If you are arranging service on behalf of someone else — a landlord, a property manager, or a family member — you confirm that you are authorized to do so and to approve the work.

2. Services We Provide

We install, repair, and service residential and light commercial systems, including:

Any description of services on this website is general information, not a guarantee that a particular system, brand, or repair is suitable for your home. What we actually recommend is based on what we find during an on-site visit.

3. Estimates and Quotes

For installations and larger projects, we provide a written estimate before any work begins. For repairs, we diagnose the problem first and then give you a written estimate — you decide whether to proceed. Estimates are based on the conditions visible at the time of the visit and remain open for a reasonable period, after which equipment availability and supplier pricing may have changed. If we open up a system and find a condition that was not visible during the estimate, we will stop, explain what we found, and get your approval before continuing. We do not begin additional billable work without your say-so.

4. Scheduling, Access, and Cancellations

We schedule appointments in arrival windows rather than exact times, because service calls vary in length and emergencies happen. We will contact you if we are running behind. You agree to provide safe, clear access to the equipment, working utilities, and a means of entry at the scheduled time. If our technician cannot access the equipment or no one is present to authorize the work, we may need to reschedule. Please give us as much notice as you can if you need to change an appointment so we can offer the slot to another customer.

5. Payment Terms

Unless we have agreed otherwise in writing, payment for repairs is due when the work is complete. Installations and larger projects may require a deposit, with the balance due on completion and, where applicable, after inspection. We accept cash, check, debit, and major credit cards, and we offer financing through the partners listed below. Amounts left unpaid past their due date may be subject to a late charge and to reasonable collection costs, as permitted by New Jersey law. Returned checks may incur a bank fee.

6. Financing

We work with NEIF, Synchrony, New Jersey Natural Gas, and Elizabethtown Gas to offer financing options on qualifying repairs and replacements. Financing is provided by those lenders, not by us. Approval, rates, and terms are set by the lender and depend on your credit profile — we cannot guarantee approval or any particular rate. Once your plan begins, you make payments directly to the lender under their agreement, and their terms govern that relationship.

7. Warranties

Two separate warranties usually apply to the work we do:

  • Manufacturer warranty — covers the equipment itself and is provided by the manufacturer (for example Armstrong Air, Mitsubishi Electric, Bradford White, or Aprilaire). Terms, length, and registration requirements are set by them, and coverage often depends on the equipment being registered and professionally maintained.
  • Our workmanship warranty — covers our labor and installation for the period stated on your invoice or proposal.

Warranties do not cover damage from misuse, accidents, storms, power surges, pests, freezing, neglected filters, work performed by others, or equipment operated outside its design conditions. Warranty coverage may be void where an invoice remains unpaid.

8. Permits, Codes, and Inspections

Where a permit is required, we pull it and arrange the municipal inspection. Our work is performed to applicable New Jersey mechanical, plumbing, fuel gas, and electrical codes. If your property has existing conditions that do not meet current code — older venting, undersized gas lines, or non-compliant wiring, for example — bringing those up to code may be necessary before we can complete an installation, and that work is quoted separately.

9. Existing Conditions and Your Property

We take care in your home and clean up after ourselves. That said, we are not responsible for pre-existing conditions we did not create — concealed leaks, corroded or brittle piping, undisclosed asbestos, mold, structural or pest damage, or components that fail during normal servicing because they were already at the end of their life. Where access requires cutting drywall or removing finishes, we will tell you in advance; restoration such as patching, painting, and finish carpentry is not included unless your written proposal says so.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by New Jersey law, our liability arising out of the services is limited to the amount you paid us for the specific work at issue. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses — including lost income, spoiled food, hotel costs, or secondary property damage — and we are not responsible for delays caused by weather, supplier shortages, manufacturer backorders, utility outages, or other circumstances outside our reasonable control. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, or affects your rights under the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act.

11. Emergency and After-Hours Service

We respond to heating, cooling, and plumbing emergencies as quickly as we can, but we cannot guarantee a specific response time. Emergency and after-hours calls may be billed at a different rate than scheduled visits; we will tell you before we dispatch. If you smell gas, leave the property immediately and call your utility and 911 before calling us.

12. Text Messages and Phone Calls

When you give us your phone number, you consent to receive calls and text messages from GB Comfort Services about appointment confirmations, technician arrivals, follow-up service, and offers. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out of marketing texts; transactional messages about active appointments may continue. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle your information.

13. Website Use and Content

The content on this site — text, photographs, logos, and layout — belongs to GB Comfort Services or is used with permission, and may not be copied or republished without our consent. Manufacturer names, logos, and product imagery remain the property of their respective owners and are used to identify the equipment we sell and service. We work to keep the site accurate, but specifications, availability, and program details change; nothing here is an offer or a guarantee of a specific outcome.

14. Reviews and Photographs

We sometimes photograph completed work for our records, for warranty documentation, and occasionally to show examples of our work. We do not publish images that identify your address or the interior of your home without asking you first. If you would prefer we not photograph your job at all, just tell the technician.

15. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts serving Morris County, New Jersey. Before it comes to that, please call us — most problems get sorted out with a phone conversation and a return visit, and we would much rather fix it than argue about it.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect new services, technology, or legal requirements. The “Last Updated” date at the top will always show the most recent revision. The version in effect when you accepted your estimate is the one that governs that job.

Questions Before You Book?

If anything here is unclear — what a quote covers, how a warranty works, or what happens if we find a surprise behind the wall — ask us before the work starts. We would rather answer it up front than have you wondering later.
